The Challenge

The Challenge

The Challenge

NASA’s Artemis missions aim to establish a sustained human presence on the Moon and Mars. Extravehicular activities (EVA), or "spacewalks", play a vital role in these missions and the pursuit of deeper space exploration.

In 2024, the NASA SUITS challenge invited us to reimagine the spacewalk experience to meet the demands of the harsh Martian environment.

I served as the NAV Design Team Lead, initially guiding a team of four. As the project progressed, I expanded my role to oversee the overall AR UI/UX design, ensuring a cohesive and user-centered experience.

Rapid prototyping and testing directly on the device helped us uncover false assumptions early, like discovering a palm menu is far more accessible than a wrist menu. This reinforced the value of failing fast to iterate and optimize designs.
